Wool Around the World’s Felting Guidelines

These instructions are how “We” at Wool Around the World use this machine to felt.

1.
Place your knitted project into the machine.

2.        Use a bucket to pour warm/hot water into the machine until the water covers your project
completely a minimum of 2 inches. Do not put in to much water or felting will take longer.

3.       Add a ½ teaspoon (approx.) of liquid detergent.
(we use A.L.L. laundry detergent or whatever is the cheapest)

(PLEASE NOTE ALL WOOL FELTS DIFFERENTLY)
(We have used this for Wool Pak yarns)

4.     Turn timer to desired time.
(Small Item: 10 mins )
(Medium - Large Item: 15-20 mins)
(X-Large Item: 20-30 mins)

5. After time then add 1 tablespoon (approx.) of fabric softner to dissolve bubbles.

6. Turn the timer on for a few minutes more to dissolve bubbles.
but keep checking those last few minutes until project is felted to your satisfaction.

7.  Take your project out of the water, holding it over the machine hand squeeze the water out, then roll
it in a towel to remove excess water (we step on our towels with our projects wrapped inside to get the
water out) then shape, block, and let dry.

8.       Using the hose attached to the back of the machine lower the end into the bucket to drain the
water from the machine.  We also use a small fish net (at Wal-Mart for $0.67)  to scoop the left over
fibers out of the machine to save for needle felting. OR Let the water drain through the net into the
bucket to collect the left over fibers.

9.  It’s always a good idea to rinse out your machine with a small amount of clean water.
